ROOTSTOWN — United’s boys soccer team came back from a one-goal deficit at half to beat Rootstown 5-4 on Thursday.

For the Eagles (7-7-2), Josh Hawkins scored three goals and Jude Andrea scored two goals. Zach Blake tallied one assist. Seth Blake recorded 12 saves in goal.

Rootstown is 11-4-1.

United will host the winner of Oberlin and Lordstown on Oct. 18 in a Div. V sectional final.

Salem 2, Sandy Valley 2

MAGNOLIA — Salem’s boys soccer team played to a 2-2 tie against Sandy Valley on Thursday.

Jake Davis and Venjamin Gallardo had goals for the Quakers.

Conner Plunkett had six saves in goal.

Salem (11-3-3) hosts Louisville on Wednesday in a Div. III sectional contest.

Weir 1, East Liverpool 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s boys soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Weir on Thursday.

East Liverpool is 7-6-1 and will be at Edison on Saturday for a regular season game.

East Liverpool 6, Harrison Central 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s girls soccer team tallied a 6-0 win over Harrison Central on Thursday.

East Liverpool is 5-9-2, while Harrison is 3-13.

East Liverpool is at West Holmes on Oct. 15 in a Div. IV sectional contest.
