BELOIT — The West Branch girls beat Salem, 2-0, Wednesday to seal their 12th straight Eastern Buckeye Conference title.
The Warriors improve to 12-0-2 overall and won the EBC title outright with a 5-0 record.
Audrey Eaton made seven saves in goal and tied the school record with her 11th shutout of the season. The Warriors have allowed three goals all season, including just one in their 12 victories.
Cambrie Nezbeth played a part in both goals.
Caidee Schroeder scored on a long pass from Nezbeth that got through the defense with 22:37 left in the first half.
Nezbeth sealed the victory with a goal 5:36 remaining in the match. She got the ball back from a short corner kick and scored.
Salem is 10-3-3 overall, suffering its first loss in eight matches, and was second in the EBC at 3-1-1. The Quakers gave up 10 of their 15 goals against in the three losses.
Salem’s Paige Menough made six saves.
The junior varsity squads tied 0-0 in one half of play.
West Branch will host Ursuline on Monday. The junior varsity match will start at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity match.
Salem will close out the regular season Tuesday by hosting Beaver Local.
Beaver Local 4, Ursuline 0
YOUNGSTOWN — The Beaver Local girls soccer team blanked Ursuline, 4-0, Wednesday.
Peyton Dunn scored two goals for the Beavers. Riley Springer also had a goal and Leah Stewart scored on a penalty kick. Jansen Ours added an assist.
The Beavers improve to 14-1 and will close out the regular season at Salem on Tuesday.
Ursuline drops to 3-10 heading into Saturday’s match at Crestview.
Crestview 4, Brookfield 1
BROOKFIELD — Isabella Novak scored two goals as the Crestview girls downed Brookfield, 4-1, Wednesday.
Sydney Wellman and Shelby Wellman also scored goals. Adri Hodge had an assist and Clarice Harroff made three saves in goal.
Crestview is 2-8-3 and will host Ursuline on Saturday.
Columbiana 2, United 1
COLUMBIANA — Columbiana knocked off United, 2-1, in girls soccer action Wednesday.
The Clippers improve to 6-5-3 and is scheduled to host LaBrae today.
The Eagles are 7-6-2 and will host Rootstown on Monday.
