Chagrin Falls 3, West Branch 2
ASHTABULA — West Branch’s girls soccer team came into its Div. IV district final with No. 10 seed Chagrin Falls on Saturday having given up only five goals all season.
The second seeded Warriors left Jefferson Area High School as Falls came away with a 3-2 victory.
West Branch fell to 15-1-2.
It was the fifth district championship for Chagrin Falls (12-7-1) since 2016.
Mia Buno’s goal in the 73rd minute was enough to lift the underdogs to victory.
Lexi Radomsky’s score in the second minute and Lily Pawar’s 29th minute goal had the Tigers up 2-0 at the break.
Sammi Beatty cut the lead to 2-1 with a 47th minute goal and Ellie Tucker tied the game on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute, but West Branch could not find that game-winner late.
The Tigers will meet West Geauga at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in a regional semifinal at Parma Byers Field.
Columbia 4, Columbiana 0
ROCKY RIVER — Natalie Miller had two goals to lead Columbia Station Columbia to a 4-0 win over Columbiana on Saturday in a Div. V district final at Magnificat High School.
Andrea McCall and Ally Boardman had the other goals for the Raiders, 15-4-1.
No. 17 seed Columbiana ended the season 11-6-3 and had won six straight coming into the district final.
No. 9 seed Columbia will take on No. 1 seed Doylestown Chippewa at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Wooster High School in a regional semifinal.
NDCL 2, West Branch 1
AVON LAKE — Notre Dame Cathedral Latin snatched a 2-1 victory over West Branch in a Div. IV boys district soccer final on Saturday at Avon Lake High School.
No. 6 seed West Branch, making its second appearance in a district final, ends the season 14-5, while 15th-seeded NDCL is 11-6-3. The Lions are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games.
Defender Grady Olinger scored for the Warriors with 4:20 left in the game.
The Lions led 1-0 at the half.
NDCL will meet Bay Village Bay or Beachwood in the regional semifinal on Wednesday at Copley High School.

Oak Glen tri
NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen appears ready for a run at a Class AA West Virginia state title after wins over Wheeling Central and Charleston Catholic on Saturday.
The Golden Bears, who earned the No. 1 seed in the Class AA, Region 1, beat Central Catholic 25-14, 25-20. Brooklyn Six led the attack with 11 kills. Averi Martin added seven kills, while Brayley Lash had four. Haylee Stewart and Mattie Carney each recorded three kills. Setter Mikalyn Balch finished with 25 assists and five digs. Keira Vick had four digs, Kendall Six added three and Ellie Smith had one. Central is the No. 3 seed.
Oak Glen then defeated Charleston Catholic 24-26, 25-23, 25-14. Martin had 11 kills, while Brooklyn Six added nine. Carney had five kills, Lash three and Stewart one along with four blocks. Balch again led the offense with 24 assists, two kills and six digs. Vick had nine digs, while Kendall Six and Layla Skavenski each finished with six.
Charleston Catholic was ranked second in Class AA by MaxPreps. Oak Glen is third.
Oak Glen will play the winner of Tyler and Williamstown at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the second round of the regional tournament.
