United quiets Rebels

COLUMBIANA — United’s girls soccer team posted a 6-2 win over Crestview on Wednesday.

For the winners, Elli Powers had three goals and an assist. Bella Thompson had two goals. Natalie Shipley had a goal and Kyle Holmes had one assist.

In goal for United, Calee Ruthrauff had four saves.

For Crestview, senior Sydney Wellman had two goals and freshman Sydni Kiehl had an assist.

Clarice Harroff had seven saves in goal for the Rebels.

United is 4-3-1. Crestview falls to 1-2-1.

United is at Steubenville Central on Saturday. Crestview hosts Warren JFK Saturday.

Salem 1, Alliance 1

SALEM — Maddy Andres scored on an assist by Karlie Sampson in a 1-1 Salem girls soccer draw against Alliance on Wednesday.

Paige Menough had 12 saves.

Salem is 5-1-1 and 0-0-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. Salem is at Niles on Saturday.

United 6, Columbiana 2

COLUMBIANA — Josh Hawkings had three goals and two assists to lead United to a 6-2 win over United on Wednesday in boys soccer action.

Also for United, Gavin Coffee and Jude Andrea had one goal and one assist each. Zach Blake added a goal and Cayden Pitts had an assist.

Seth Blake had two saves in goal for the Eagles.

United is 2-5 and hosts Mathews on Monday.

Crestview 2,

Jackson-Milton 1

COLUMBIANA — A.J. Milhoan had a goal and assist to lead Crestview’s boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over Jackson-Milton on Wednesday.

Alex Beveridge had the other goal, while Sawyer Such added an assist.

Crestview is 3-2 and hosts Warren JFK on Saturday.

West Branch 8,

Minerva 0

BELOIT — West Branch’s girls soccer team rampaged to an 8-0 win over Minerva on Wednesday.

Alinee Bacconi and Elli Colian had two goals each for the Warriors, while Sammi Beatty, Cambrie Nezbeth, Grace Bates and Caidee Schroeder had single goal tallies.

Colian also had three assists, while Nebeth and Bacconi had single assists.

Audrey Eaton had four saves in goal.

West Branch is 6-0-1 and 1-0-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.

West Branch is at Marlington next Wednesday.

Minerva 180,

Louisville 182

LOUISVILLE — Minerva’s girls golf team kept its unbeaten record going with a 180-182 win over Louisville on Wednesday at Pleasant View.

Minerva is 14-0 and 7-0 in the East Buckeye Conference. Minerva hosts Marlington in its final home match today.

For the Lions, Emery Sell had a 42, Delaney Sell 45, Hannah Kirkpatrick 45 and Peyton Beaumariage 48.

Columbiana 168, Beaver Local 199

CALCUTTA — Columbiana defeated Beaver Local 168-199 in girls golf play on Tuesday at Beaver Meadows.

Nia Missos led the Clippers with a 40, followed by Alyssa Kakavros 41, Claire Banner 43 and Maddie Jackson 44.

McKenzie Ash paced Beaver Local with a 47. Emily Druschel added a 48, Georgie Long 51 and Brenna Jones 53.

Columbiana improved to 11-0.

Beaver Local 156, Indian Creek 167

CALCUTTA — Brothers Braxton and Britton Hickman had 37s to lead Beaver Local to a 156-167 win over Indian Creek on Tuesday at Beaver Meadows.

Also for the Beavers (10-1), Owen Hill had a 41 and Nathan Pusateri had a 42.

Lisbon 197, East Palestine 202

GLENMOOR — Lisbon’s golf team beat East Palestine 197-202 on Tuesday at Historic Highlands.

For Lisbon, Logan Sturgeon had a 47, Mason Jones 47, Aiden Myers 50 and Zach Johnson 50.

For East Palestine, Luke Kinkead had a 46, Kayla Bland 51, Hunter Hupp 52 and Alivia Magness 53.

East Palestine 206, Wellsville 231

GLENMOOR — East Palestine topped Wellsville 206-231 in golf action Wednesday at Historic Highlands.

Luke Kinkead led East Palestine with a 45. He was followed by Hunter Hupp at 51, Kayla Bland 53, and Alivia Magness 57.

Wellsville was led by Darnell Roe with a 49, along with Cooper Frank 52, Nate Cline 64 and Danny Allen 66.

Wellsville will travel to Edgewater on Thursday to face United.

Salem 182, West Branch 199

SALEM –Salem’s boys golf team carded a 182-199 win over West Branch on Wednesday at Salem Hills.

Gabe Leek led the way for Salem with a 44, followed by Eli James with 45, Caden Arcuri 46 and Cason Citinio 47. For West Branch, Gavin Clay carded a 45, while Luke Dyke shot 49, Collin Jones 52 and Mason Runk 53.

The Quakers improved to 8-7 overall and 4-5 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. Salem will host Jackson-Milton on Tuesday.

Lowellville tri

COITSVILLE — Heartland Christian shot a 213 to finish ahead of Lowellville (226) and Crestview (229) in a tri-match Wednesday at Bedford Trails.

Crestview’s Elaina Louk earned medalist honors. Lowellville’s Gianna and Nina finished second and third, while Crestview’s Maye Miller and Alley Farley rounded out the top five.

VOLLEYBALL

Toronto 3, Wellsville 0

WELLSVILLE –Toronto set down Wellsville in straight sets 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 on Wednesday in volleyball action.

The Tigers are 1-5 and will play their third match in three days today against Valley Christian at home.

Cardinal Mooney 3, East Palestine 0

YOUNGSTOWN — Cardinal Mooney handed East Palestine a 25-14, 25-22, 26-24 loss on Wednesday in volleyball action.

East Palestine falls to 5-2 and has lost two straight.

The Bulldogs host Mohawk (Pa.) on Monday.
