YSU women win Schwartz
BOARDMAN -- Senior Maddi Shoults from Circleville claimed medalist honors as the Youngstown State women's golf team won the 11th annual Roseann Schwartz Invitational in record-breaking fashion Monday at Mill Creek's North Course.
The Penguins set new school records for lowest 36-hole score with a 574, including a 290 on Sunday and a 4-under-par 284 on Monday. They finished 36 strokes ahead of runner-up Purdue Fort Wayne.
Shoults had a two-round score of 141 (69-72), tied for the fourth-lowest individual 36-hole score in program history.
Youngstown State redshirt freshman Mati Zines from United Local tied for 35th in the 50-golfer field with a 167 (84-83).
The Penguins will continue their fall schedule on Sunday at the Notre Dame Invitational.
Howland tops Salem
SALEM -- Howland swept all five matches to defeat Salem on Tuesday at the Salem Racquet Club
Salem (10-5) hosts Alliance on Thursday at Memorial Park.
