SPORTS BRIEFING

Waterloo’s game called

ATWATER — Waterloo’s athletic department canceled Friday’s football game at Springfield Local due to low numbers.

On Friday, before Lisbon’s 41-14 win over the Vikings, Waterloo issued a statement to its community that the entire game would be played with a running clock due to low participation numbers.

On Saturday, Waterloo said it would not have enough healthy players for the game against Springfield and would not play the game. The athletic department said the rest of the season will be determined on a week by week basis.

The Vikings (0-3) are next scheduled to play at Mineral Ridge on Sept. 19. Games against McDonald, Jackson-Milton, Western Reserve, Lowellville and Campbell remain.

Interim coach at Ursuline

YOUNGSTOWN — Three members of the Ursuline football coaching staff were placed on administrative leave Monday as the team is being sued in federal court for an alleged hazing incident during the team’s summer trip to a series of football camps in the southern United States.

Head coach Dan Reardon agreed to a suspension and assistant coaches Tim McGlynn and Christian Syrianoudis were placed on leave, according to a news release issued by the school Monday night.

Michael Frasco will serve as the interim head coach for the rest of the 2025 campaign.

Ursuline will not play this Friday since the Irish kept Week 4 open to begin the season. The Irish are scheduled to return to action Sept. 19 when they host Warren G. Harding at Stambaugh Stadium.

Starting at $2.99/week.
