Quakers get ahead of Southeast
SALEM — Maddy Andres’ header off a Delaney Callahan corner lifted Salem’s girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over Southeast on Saturday.
Karlie Sampson scored the Quakers’ first goal on an assist from Gabby Coletta.
Paige Menough had two saves. Salem is 5-1 and will host Alliance on Wednesday.
Heartland 5, Columbiana 0
NORTH LIMA — Mason Sharo and Eaton Jones had two goals each as Heartland Christian downed Columbiana 5-0 on Saturday in boys soccer action.
Paul Bender added a goal and two assists. Sayde Szabo and Christopher Hammond had assists.
Heartland is 1-4, while Columbiana is 2-2.
Oak Glen 1, Fairmont Sr. 1
NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s girls soccer team tied Fairmont Senior 1-1 on Saturday.
The Bears are 0-4-1 and will be at East Liverpool on Tuesday.
Trinity 3, Oak Glen 0
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s boys soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Trinity Christian on Saturday.
Oak Glen is 1-2 and will host Tyler on Tuesday.
Steubenville C.C. 7, East Liverpool 1
STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville Catholic Central’s girls soccer team tamed East Liverpool 7-1 on Saturday.
East Liverpool fell to 1-2-1 and will host Oak Glen on Tuesday.
West Branch 3, Warren JFK 1
BELOIT — Sammi Beatty’s hat trick pushed West Branch to a 3-1 win ove Warren JFK on Saturday at West Branch’s field.
West Branch is 5-0-1. Assists came from Elli Colian, Grace Bates and Caidee Schroeder.
Audrey Eaton had one save.
West Branch will host Minerva on Wednesday.
VOLLEYBALL
East Liverpool 3, Carrollton 0
CARROLLTON — East Liverpool picked up a 25-12, 25-22, 25-23 win over Carrollton on Saturday.
The Potters are 4-1, while the Warriors fell to 3-3.
For the Potters, Kamryn Yanni had 28 assists and 10 digs. Presley Jones had five kills. Addie Jones had two kils and two blocks. Kendall Martin had four kills and three blocks. Ava Green had four aces and 24 kills. Hailey Board added an ace and three blocks, while Ayla Riggle had four assists and 15 digs.
Carrollton won the jayvee match, 25-19, 25-18. Ella Gunning had four assists and three aces. Coli Spencer had three aces and three kills. Peyton Tanner had two kills and three assists.
East Liverpool’s freshman won 25-19, 25-9. Kennedy Talbott had an ace and four assists. Maddie Campbell had two kills as did Milani Vantilburg.
East Liverpool hosts Beaver Local on Tuesday. The freshman match will begin at 5 p.m. with the junior varsity and varsity to follow.
Heartland 3, Lisbon 1
COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian downed Lisbon 25-27, 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 on Monday to move to 6-3 on the season.
Keagan Pruitt paced the Lions with 14 kills, 28 digs and four aces. Claire Liposky added 14 kills, 13 digs and two aces, while Maddie Neville chipped in 10 kills, 17 digs and two aces. Makenna Wilson totaled 22 assists, 11 digs and two aces, and Emily McDowell finished with 17 assists, 11 digs and five aces.
For Lisbon, Stefanee Stacey had 10 kills, 23 assists, 17 digs and 15 points. Maddie Marshalek collected 17 kills, 12 digs and two blocks, while libero Hannah Davis tallied 15 digs.
In the junior varsity match, Heartland Christian swept Lisbon 25-23, 25-17.
For Lisbon, Brooklynn Klein had six kills, Gracyn Owens five assists and five kills, Aria Reckner five assists, Lexi Roush 10 points and three aces, and Delaney Pickens three kills and five assists. Kyler Malone played well at the net.
Lisbon visits Wellsville on Tuesday.
Mount Lebanon Tournament
MT. LEBANON, Pa. — Oak Glen’s volleyball team participated in the Mount Lebanon Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at Mount Lebanon High School.
Oak Glen beat Pine-Richland 15-13, 16-14 in a two-set match, but also lost to Pine-Richland 25-14 in a one-set match.
The Golden Bears beat the hosts 25-14 in a one set match and Bethel Park 25-16. Hampton also beat the Bears 25-21 in a one-set match.
Peters Township beat the Bears 15-12, 18-16. Oak Glen tied Frazier 17-15, 15-5.
Oak Glen is 10-3-1 and is at Beaver (Pa.) on Thursday.
Salem JVs
SALEM — The Salem Quaker jayvee team beat Southeast 25-7, 25-22. Macy Pieniazek had 11 aces and four kills. Olivia Lewis had three aces and three kills.
