Five more join Lisbon HOF

LISBON — The Lisbon David Anderson High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct five into its Class of 2025.
This year’s inductees are Ed Browne (Class of 1971), Kayla (Hiscox) Hixon (’12), Katie (Ketchum) Crowl (’07), Danny Donohue (’15) and Deb Ford (’72).
The new inductees will be recognized at halftime of the Sept. 26 home football game against Valley Christian.
The induction ceremony and dinner will be held Sept.27 in the high school cafeteria. There will be a social hour starting at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6: p.m. Dinners are $25 for adults and $16 for children. Reservations must be made by Sept. 16. Edwin “Ed” Browne
Football/Contributor, Class of 1971
Ed was a three-time varsity letter winner for the Blue Devils while playing on the offensive and defensive lines. He earned first-team All-Area as an offensive guard in 1970 and was the only unanimous first-team lineman picked on the All-TCL football team in 1970.
In addition to his contributions on the football field, Ed was instrumental in securing and surveying the land for the Dickey Baseball/Softball Complex. Through his networking and surveying company Ed was able to secure the land for the ball fields, survey it, and turn it into the five field complex used today by Lisbon’s High School teams as well as their little league teams.
Ed donated his time and resources to continue to maintain the fields for many years, regularly mowing and caring for the complex.
Ed resides in Lisbon with his wife, Mary, and has retired from his business Ed Browne and Associates Land Surveyors. He has four children who are all graduates of DAHS, Cathy (Pyle) Raffle, Chris Pyle, Melissa Browne and Vince Browne.
Deborah Ford
Contributor, Class of 1972
Deborah is a long-time Lisbon resident and the friendly face you see at all Lisbon Athletic events.
She has volunteered in the athletic department for nearly 20 years and for the past 12 years has been the ticket manager at the school. Mrs. Ford works each home game for all levels taking tickets and has previously served as a line judge and scorekeeper for volleyball teams. Deb is currently an officer for the Lisbon Roundball Club and previously served as president of the Touchdown Club for five years.
Deborah resides in Lisbon and is employed at McKinley Elementary as a teacher’s aide. She is the wife of the late Earl Ford and the mother of three: J.C Ford, Erica Ford and Morgan Ford. Deb is also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Katie (Ketchum) Crowl
Softball, Class of 2007
Katie was a softball standout for the Blue Devils and a main catalyst in the beginning of a great run for the softball program. She served as captain her senior season Katie was a four-time first-team All-TCL selection in her four years as the starting shortstop for Lisbon.
She holds school records for stolen bases in a career and in a single season along with highest batting average for a season and career and runs scored in a career. Her former coach said, “If there were an all-time Lisbon softball team, Katie would be one of the first picks.”
Katie resides in Carrollton with her husband, Caleb, and daughter Temperance. She is employed at Carrollton Village Schools as a nurse.
Kayla (Hiscox) Hixon
Volleyball/Softball, Class of 2012
Kayla was a seven-time letter winner in volleyball and softball during her high school career. On the volleyball court she earned first-team ITCL honors as a junior and senior. Kayla also earned first-team honors in Columbiana County and District I as a senior. Kayla graduated as the record holder in blocks in a match and season, as well as kills in a season. During her volleyball and softball careers, she earned recognition for her outstanding academic achievement.
Kayla is employed as a fourth-grade teacher at the Seneca Valley School District and resides in Coraopolis, Pa., with her husband, Craig, daughter, Aletta, and dog, Ellie.
Danny Donohue
Football, Class of 2015
Danny was a four-year letter winner on the gridiron for the Blue Devils and also earned two varsity letters as a thrower on the track team.
While playing right tackle for Lisbon, Danny paved the way for three different 1,000-yard rushers. As a sophomore Danny earned honorable mention honors on both the ITCL and Columbiana County all-star teams. The following season Danny was earned first-team ITCL honors and second-team Columbiana Columbiana.
His senior season he served as team captain was received the Bud Bucher Award while earning first-team honors for the ITCL, Columbiana County, All Area and Northeast Inland District teams. Danny was also named special mention All Ohio. In 2015 he represented the Blue Devils in the Penn-Ohio game.
Danny resides in Lisbon and is employed at RL Craig. His biggest enjoyment is spending time with his wife, Tiffany Donohue, and his four daughters, Sophia, Harper, Lilah and Alannah.
