Columbiana, Beaver Local sport unbeaten records

EAST PALESTINE — Columbiana remained unbeaten by downing East Palestine, 25-14, 26-24, 25-19, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Monday.

The Clippers improve to 11-0 overall and 8-0 in the EOAC, one game ahead of United. The Bulldogs have lost five in a row to drop to 5-5 and 4-3 in the EOAC.

Landry Smith totaled 18 kills, 10 points and three aces for the Clippers. Eva Waller had 10 points, four aces, 34 assists and seven digs; Addisyn Dangler eight points, three aces, eight kills, two blocks and two digs; Evy Rapp four points, three kills and eight digs; Kaydynce Hamner six kills and three digs; and Layla McCarthy 15 digs and two kills.

For East Palestine, Cami Kridler 12 assists and 13 digs, Amara Wilson 12 kills and nine digs, Kennedy Andre 11 assists, five digs and three aces, Destiney Burtyk seven kills and eight digs, Emma Gingher seven kills and Alyssa Dilling 15 digs.

Columbiana also won the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-23. Ella Eisenbraun had 13 points, four aces, four kills, six assists and three digs for the Clippers. Abby Barborak added five points, two aces, four kills and six assists; Riley Fisk four points, four kills and four digs; and Ava Morris two aces and six kills.

The Bulldgos were led by Aliviana Valingo with nine points, five aces and three kills, Violet Glavan four kills and Jacklyn Ogle three kills.

Both teams play today with Columbiana at Wellsville for a varsity-only match and East Palestine at Leetonia.

Southern 3, Toronto 0

SALINEVILLE — Southern won for the sixth time in the last seven matches by sweeping Toronto, 25-19, 25-11, 25-19, Monday.

The Indians improve to 7-5 and will play at United today.

Leaders for the Indians were Haylee Kellogg with 11 points, 20 assists and two kills, Katie Kellogg seven points and 14 kills, Natalia Lopez eight points and five kills, Allyssa Shroades 18 assists and three kills, Kiah Sloan eight kills and two blocks, Addy Martin six points and six digs and Brooke Boyer eight digs and six points, Kalayah Crute four kills and two blocks and Maddy Tsesmilles five digs.

Toronto won a thrilling junior varsity match, 25-18, 17-25, 28-26. Mary Beadnell had 14 points and eight kills for Southern. Chloe Ensinger had nine points and four kills and Eliana Forbes six points and 18 assists.

United 3, Poland 1

POLAND — United won its fifth in a row by downing Poland, 25-17, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, Monday.

The Eagles improve to 10-3 overall, while the Bulldogs drop to 4-7. Sophie Battaglini had eight points and two aces for the Eagles. Maelee Smith had 20 digs and Chloe Angelo nine blocks.

United also won the junior varsity match, 25-7, 18-25, 25-21, as Ellie Kiko had 10 kills. Callie Koons collected 16 points and two aces and Brennan Ritchie 12 points and four aces.

Both teams play today as United hosts Southern and Poland entertains South Range.

Beaver Local 3, Indian Creek 0

CALCUTTA — The Beaver Local volleyball team completed its 11th straight sweep to open the season, draining Indian Creek 25-9, 25-17, 25-7 Monday.

Eva McKnight had 11 kills and two digs and Lily Schrieber had eight kills, three aces and eight digs to lead the Beavers.

Bria Boyd contributed five kills, 26 assists and five digs, Giada Williams and Sydney McNear each had five kills and two digs, Taylor Pease four digs and three aces, Karsyn Bowyer three aces and 10 digs, Addie Thurik two kills and three aces, Sydney Wilson Plunkett three digs and two aces and Perri Gilson five digs.

The Beavers (11-0) will play at Martins Ferry today with freshmen starting at 4:30 p.m.

Beaver Local also won the junior varsity match, 25-8 25-14. For the Beavers, Leah Schrieber eight kills, four aces and eight assists, Macie Bourne three kills, six aces and two digs,. Madison Poppelriter five kills and three digs and Sophia Gibson two kills two digs.

East Liverpool 3, Harrison Central 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool had no problems downing Harrison Central 25-6, 25-9, 25-18 Monday, a day after the Huskies’ libero broke her wrist.

Ava Green led the Potters with 17 kills and three aces. Kendall Martin contributed four aces and nine kills, Hailey Board five kills and one block, Addie Jones four kills and one block, Ayla Riggle six aces, Presley Jones three aces and five kills and Kamryn Yanni 35 assists, two aces and two kills.

The Potters improve to 8-3 and will play at Buckeye Local at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

East Liverpool also won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-11. Lillie White totaled eight aces and six kills, Koli Spencer three aces and five kills, Ella Gunning 12 assists and Addie Smith three aces and two kills.
