Boyd leads Beavers past Carrollton

CARROLLTON –Senior Bria Boyd collected her 1,000th career assist as Beaver Local swept Carrollton, 25-23, 25-22, 25-14, Monday.

The Beavers improve to 16-2, while the Warriors drop to 9-11.

Beaver Local leaders included Boyd with four kills, 27 assists and nine digs, Eva McKnight 10 kills and three blocks, Lily Schrieber five kills and 15 digs, Addie Thurik eight kills and four digs, Giada Williams seven kills, Karsyn Bowyer 16 digs, Taylor Pease five digs and Sydney McNear three kills and two digs.

Carrollton won the junior varsity match, 17-25, 25-23, 25-23. For the Beavers, Leah Schrieber had six kills, seven assists, three aces and five digs; Madi Gaydos three aces and 13 digs; Macie Bourne five kills, two aces and five digs; Madison Poppelriter two kills and eight digs; Sophia Gibson three kills and digs; and Gianna Congrove three kills, 11 assists and eight digs.

Carrollton also won the freshman match, 26-24, 25-16. Macie Bourne led the Beavers with six kills, two aces and four digs. Gianna Congrove had two kills, 13 assists and two digs and Makayla Jungfleisch added five aces and 14 digs.

Beaver Local hosts Steubenville today. The freshman match will begin at 4:30 p.m. Beaver Local seniors will be honored following the junior varsity match.

East Liverpool 3, Wellsville 0

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool dropped Wellsville 25-6, 25-11, 25-14 on Monday.

East Liverpool is 13-5 and will host Oak Glen on Wednesday for its senior night.

For the Potters, Ella Gunning had 14 assists, while Presley Jones had five aces. Addie Jones added six kills and a block. Kendall Martin had four aces, eight kills and four assists. Ava Green had 13 kills and three assists. Hailey Board had two kills, while Ayla Riggle had four aces and seven assists.

Wellsville fell to 4-14 and is at Valley today.

East Palestine 3, Valley 0

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine evened its record at 8-8 with a sweep of Valley Christian on Tuesday, 25-7, 25-14, 25-8.

The Bulldogs (7-5 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) were led by Destiney Burtyk with 15 kills, two points and an ace. Cami Kridler had 12 assists, four digs and three points, while Kennedy Andre added 13 assists, six digs, 13 points and six aces. Amara Wilson served 23 points with six aces and added six digs. Marley Blythe finished with seven kills and three digs, and Emma Gingher chipped in five kills.

In jayvee action, East Palestine won 25-10, 25-10. Aliviana Valingo totaled nine points, three kills and eight aces. Cadence Vargo had 12 points and four aces, and Violet Glavan added seven points, four aces and two kills.

East Palestine travels to Columbiana on Wednesday.

River 3, Southern 1

SALINEVILLE — Southern played River for the first time and the Pilots went home with a 25-27, 25-15, 25-22, 25-15 win Monday.

River improves to 8-8, while Southern moves to 9-8.

Brooke Boyle and Allyssa Shroades each served eight points for the Indians. Boyle also made seven digs and Shroades had 10 assists and five kills. Katie Kellogg totaled 16 kills, Natalia Lopez seven points and three kills and Kalayah Crute four kills.

Southern won the junior varsity match, 25-22, 25-21, as Khloe Ensinger had eight points and eight kills and Eliana Forbes made 12 assists.

The Indians will play at Leetonia today.

Columbiana 3, Mooney 2

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s volleyball team worked five sets to beat Mooney 25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 17-25, 16-14 on Monday.

Columbiana is 16-1.

For the Clippers, Evy Rapp had 11 kills, 12 points and 19 digs. Eva Waller had 43 assists, six points and five digs. Addison Dangler added 21 kills, while Landry Smith had 10 kills, 11 points and five aces. Lily Jackson had 10 digs. Ava Marks had eight digs and four kills.

Columbiana won the jayvee match, 25-13, 25-23. Marks had nine points and eight aces. Ella Eisenbraun had eight points, four aces, four assists and four digs. Harper Cuff had three kills, four aces and five points. Sylvia Rapp had four aces and six points.

Columbiana hosts East Palestine today.

Toronto 3, Lisbon 0

LISBON — Toronto scored a 25-21, 27-25, 25-21 sweep of Lisbon on Monday.

Lisbon slipped to 9-9, while Toronto is 7-11.

Lisbon hosts United today.
