Baker grabs Geneva record

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Keaton Baker sets records wherever he goes.

Baker — who was a first-team All-Ohioan in United High School — set Geneva College’s receiving record in the Golden Tornadoes’ 55-35 win over Saint Vincent in front of 3,015 fans at Reeves Field on Saturday night.

Baker had 12 receptions for a school-record 282 yards (23.5) and four touchdowns.

He broke the single-game school record of 240 receiving yards set by Ron Michel. His touchdown catches covered 44, 5, 75 and 33 yards

Junior quarterbck Caleb Romano completed 31-of-41 passes for 484 yards and seven touchdowns. His 484 yards are the second-highest in school history and his seven touchdown passes ties Zack Hayward’s school record.

One of the touchdown passes was a 34-yarder to Luke Crumbacher, a former South Range High School graduate. Crumbacher had six receptions for 76 yards.

Geneva piled up 629 yards of total offense.

On the season, Baker has 19 catches for 382 yards (20.1) and six touchdowns –all team highs.

He is tied for second in NCAA Division III in touchdown catches (6) and ranks 10th in receiving yards (382).

As a senior at United in 2020, Baker set school records with 86 catches for 1,392 yards (16.2).

Geneva (1-2) will play at Allegheny College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
