Clippers’ Jackson tops girls invite
SALEM — Columbiana junior Maddie Jackson took medalist honors at the fourth Columbiana County Girls Golf Invitational on Tuesday.
Jackson shot an 18-hole score of 16-over-par 88 at Salem Hills Golf & Country Club.United senior Emma Murphy was the runner-up with a 92.
Columbiana senior Alyssa Kakavros and Beaver Local freshman McKenzie Ash tied for third place with 93s.
The Clippers had five of the top seven finishers.
It was not scored as a team event.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s boys golf team was a 153-163 winner over Jackson-Milton on Tuesday at Valley.
For the Clippers, Luke Struharik had a 36, while Trenton Hall and David Masters had 38s. Beckett Wilson had a 41.
Colton Elliott led the Bluejays with a 38.
Columbiana (9-2) hosts East Liverpool on Thursday.
West Branch 187, Salem 197
SALEM — West Branch’s boys golf team downed Salem 187-197 on Tuesday at Flying B Golf Course.
For the Warriors, Gavin Clay led with a 44, followed by Lucas Dyke (45), Collin Jones (48) and Mason Runk (50).
Salem was paced by Tanner James with a 42. Caden Arcuri carded a 50, while Gabe Leek (52) and Cason Citino (53) rounded out the scoring.
The Quakers fall to 4-6 overall and 0-5 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. Salem is back in action Thursday when it travels to Great Trail to take on Minerva.
Minerva 181, Alliance 205
ALLIANCE — Minerva’s girls golf team picked up another league victory Monday, defeating Alliance 181-205 at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.
Peyton Beaumariage led the Lions with a 41, while Emery Sell also turned in a strong round. Freshman Savanna Bartley added a 48 and Delaney Sell finished with a 49 to round out the scoring.
The win keeps Minerva perfect at 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference.
The Lions return home Tuesday for a tri-match with John Glenn and Claymont.
