Beaver Local’s Warrick up for Billy Goat Challenge
MCDONALD — Beaver Local junior Luke Warrick was the runner-up at the Billy Goat Challenge on Saturday.
Warrick was second out of 125 boys runners, covering the 3.1-mile course at Woodland Park in 17 minutes, 45.79 seconds.
McDonald senior Joey Cappuzello won in 16:58.74. Springfield freshman Caden Hudak was 12th (19:56.00).
McDonald was first out of 11 teams with 81 points, followed by Crestwood with 91 and Beaver Local 97.
Also for the Beavers were Beaver Local senior Zachary Prideau was 20th (20:27.26), junior Mason Boggs 24th (20:36.01), junior Justin Bailey 25th (20:36.02) and junior Hank Johns 30th (21:12.61).
McDonald also won the girls meet with 40. Beaver Local was fifth out of eight teams with 130 points.
Beaver Local senior Hannah Ruberto was eighth (22:40.28) out of 88 girls runners. Other top Beaver Local runners were freshman Georgie Long in 20th (24:42.01) and freshman Nayia Springer in 32nd (26:28.00).
Mogadore’s Morgan Hill won the girls race (19:15.40) and McDonald sophomore Naomi Sheesley was second (20:03.29).
