Beaver Local splits at Woodview tri

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. — Beaver Local suffered its first loss of the season Monday, falling in a tri-match at Mountaineer Woodview. Host Weir took the win with a 161, while the Beavers finished second at 170 ahead of Toronto’s 191.

Owen Hill paced Beaver Local with a 39. Andre Wiegand followed with a 41, while Braxton Hickman, Mikey Druschel and Nathan Pusateri each carded 45s.

Beaver Local (6-1) will look to bounce back today when it hosts East Liverpool at Beaver Creek Meadows.

Salem 182, United 216

SALEM — The Salem boys golf team earned a 182-216 victory over United Local on Monday at Salem Hills.

Cason Citino paced the Quakers with a 42, followed by Vinnie Yannucci (46). Caden Arcuri, Tanner James and Gabe Leek each carded 47s to round out the Quakers.

For United, Adam Looman led with a 42, while Devin Ingold shot 47. Jacob Dileo (59) and Carson Campbell (63) completed the scoring.

With the win, Salem improves to 4-5. The Quakers return to action Tuesday against West Branch at Flying B.

Columbiana 193,

Mineral Ridge 220

WARREN — Columbiana’s girls golf team remained perfect on the season with a 193-220 win over Mineral Ridge on Monday at Duck Creek.

Claire Banner led the Clippers (8-0) with a 43, followed by Maddie Jackson (46). Nia Missos and Victoria Buckingham each carded 52s to close out the scoring.

For Mineral Ridge, Savannah Turek shot a team-low 47. Alayna Valley added a 54, while Cece Cernaka (64) and Maddie Wagner (65) rounded out the total.

Columbiana returns to action on Thursday at the Columbiana County Invitational at Salem Hills.

Poland 146,

Columbiana 161

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana’s boys golf team suffered a 146-161 loss to Poland on Monday at Valley.

For Columbiana, Trenton Hall had a 39, Nick Klindworth 40 Luke Struharik 41 and Geoffrey Malcolmson 41.

Angelo Rinaldi led Poland with a 35. Ryan Lombardo had a 36, Matthew Morrone 37 and Zach Ohlin 38.

Columbiana is 8-2.

The Clippers host Jackson-Milton today.

East Palestine 186, Southern 193

NEGLEY — East Palestine’s golf team wa a 186-193 winner over Southern on Monday at the East Palestine Country Club.

For East Palestine (6-4, 5-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference), Luke Kinkead had a 42, Kealin Simon 46, Brad Bartels 47 and Clark Rutledge 51.

For Southern, Mason Pitts had a 44, Trevor Groff 49, Jack Pitts 49 and Jensen Allender 51.
