Hall drafted into new wrestling league

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Oak Glen High School graduate and former West Virginia University All-American wrestler Peyton Hall’s mat time isn’t quite over yet.
Hall was drafted fourth overall in the new Champions League of American Wrestling draft on Monday at Harrah’s Atlantic City.
Hall will wrestle at 170 pounds for the Enforcers, one of six teams.
CLAW is a new dual professional wrestling league that has a focus on fan engagement through what it claims to be more aggressive scoring rules that drive the action. It is set to launch in October although the CLAW organization has run experimental tournaments to test out rules since 2023.
The league has yet to announce a schedule or venues for its new venture but it does have pricing for its streaming service on its web site.
CLAW is a product of founders Tom Houck and Eric Brugel. Houck is the founder of the nonprofit Top of the Podium which has operated wrestling facilities since 2014. Brugel, a former All-American wrestler at Penn State, is the managing director of Grey Owl Capital Management.
Hall is the winningest WVU wrestler of all-time at 135-30. He had a school-best five NCAA tournament appearances and was an All-American three times including a third-place finish at 165 in March.
The GM for the Enforcers is the FFF League which is a grouping of 12 former D1 wrestlers who were chosen as GM by CLAW through a fan contest.
The draft wrapped up on Tuesday evening.
