ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The East Liverpool boys track and field team is enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime season.

The Potters claimed their first-ever Ohio Valley Athletic Conference All-Class team title on Saturday and their second Class 4A team title since the inception of the OVAC Championships in 1943.

East Liverpool won four events at Red Devil Stadium on the way to scoring 118 points, tying host St. Clairsville for the overall team title.

Forty-six boys teams scored in the meet.

Maddox Roach, Quintin Conrad and Julius Jones each played a part of two first-place finishes for the Potters.

Roach won the 1600-meter run and Conrad the 400-meter dash. Both joined Jones and Gavin Wright on the winning 1600 relay team. Isaac Christian, Brody Vulgamore and Zayvier Wynn joined Jones on the winning 3200 relay team.

The Potters will be in the running for another team title Tuesday at the Columbiana County Track and Field Meet in East Palestine.

Oak Glen’s Orien Bone won the shot put.

Girls winners in Class 4A were Beaver Local’s Mallory Miller in the 200 dash, Oak Glen’s Reecelyn Craig in the shot put, Oak Glen’s Lacey Cameron in the 1600 run and Oak Glen’s Angelina Polly, Emma Everett, Addyson Wells and Lacey Cameron in the1600 relay.

United senior Danny Milburn topped area athletes in Class 3A. Miburn won the 100 and 400 dashes and was second in the 200.

United had two other winners — Trent Ellyson in the boys discus and Mary Boston in the girls long jump.

In Class 1-2A, Southern’s Kiah Sloan won the girls 100 dash and long jump and Braxton Sloan was first in the boys 400 dash.
