Beavers beat Eagles on three hits

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to snatch a 3-1 victory over United Local on Friday in a regular season contest.

Beaver Local was led by Ally Wright’s solo home run in the fourth inning as well as Ciara Call’s triple.

Addie Hoppel got the win with seven strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.

Callie Koons had three hits for United. Grace Coffee added two hits.

Payten Kekel had 10 strikeouts and a walk in the loss for United.

Beaver Local (19-5) hosts Indian Valley in a Div. IV district semifinal on Tuesday.

United (20-7) will host McDonald in a Div. VI district semifinal on Monday.

Maplewood 5, Columbiana 0

CORTLAND — Maplewood pitcher Addison Marker gave up nine hits but blanked Columbiana 5-0 on Friday in a regular season contest.

Marker had 10 strikeouts and no walks.

It was the first time Columbiana was shutout this season.

Caitlynn Pleska and Cameron Perkins had two hits each for Columbiana.

Addison Brode took the loss with seven strikeouts and three walks in six innings.

Maplewood is 19-4.

Columbiana (20-7) will host Tuslaw on Tuesday in a Div. V district semifinal.

LaBrae 7, Crestview 5

LEAVITTSBURG — Riley Rowe’s three-run home run with two outs in the eighth sent LaBrae to a 7-5 win over Crestview on Friday in a regular season Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Grey Division game.

Brenna Figley had two doubles for the Rebels. Chloe Stoops had two hits and an RBI.

Emma Snyder took the loss for the Rebels as she struck out seven and walked two in 7 2/3 innings.

Crestview is 13-10 overall and 7-7 in the league. The Rebels are at Mineral Ridge on Monday in a Div. VI district semifinal.
