Rifle team formed out of Columbiana County Fish and Game

LISBON — A group of rifleman out of the Columbiana County Fish and Game recently established The Ohio Valley Rimfire 3 position rifle team.

The team came into existence after the group participated in a mail-in rifle match offered by the Civilian Marksmanship Program out of Port Clinton.

The team shoot targets in the standing, kneeling and prone positions.

“It’s been a real thrill to be shooting three position for the first time with such accomplished shooters,” said team member Andrew Johnson.

The team will submit their targets to the league by the end of April for scoring.

The Ohio Valley Rimfire Association was formed in 2023 at the Columbiana County Fish and Game by match director Matthew Watson.

The club offers several forms of matches: indoor off hand from October through April; Know Your Limits Bench from May through October and NRL22, a nationwide league, year round. The club will be offering shoots for all ages and skill levels, including non-members, on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from May to September.
