McConnachie tops long jump

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Oak Glen’s Kensington McConnachie won the girls long jump at the Dave Porterfield Memorial Invitational on Friday.

McConnachie leaped 15-feet-7 1/2 to beat St. Clairsville’s Ava Boroski by 2 inches in the 22-girl field.

Caldwell senior and University of Kentucky recruit Gwyn Lori set meet and Red Devils Stadium records in winning the discus with a toss of 145-feet-10 and also was first in the shot put (44-10), the event she won the Division III state title in last year.

Oak Glen’s Orien Bone was second in the boys discus (135-3) and third in the shot put (46-4 1/2).

Host St. Clairsville won the boys team title with 97 points, while Steubenvile was the girls winner with 91 points.

The Oak Glen boys were 13th with 24 points and the Oak Glen girls were 14th with 23 points in the 17-school field.
