Good start for Clippers

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Freshman Addison Brode struck out 10 batters and Columbiana cruised to a 8-0 win over Elk Lake of Dimock, Pa., Thursday at the Ripken Experience.

Ella Dota had two hits including a double and an RBI for the Clippers. Cameron Perkins had a triple and three RBIs. Kyla Hogan, Maryn Hepler and Alivia Bell had two hits each.

Columbiana 12, Germantown Friends (Pa.) 0

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Caitlynn Pleska had two hits including a double with two RBIs as Columbiana topped Germantown Friends of Philadelphia 12-2 in five innings on Thursday at the Ripken Experience.

Columbiana is 3-0.

Maryn Hepler and Cameron Perkins had a hit and two RBIs each.

In the circle, Pleska had 11 strikeouts and two walks.

Columbiana plays West Greene and Chartiers-Houston from Pennsylvania today in Myrtle Beach.

Jackson-Milton 16, Lisbon 1

NORTH JACKSON — Lisbon’s softball team suffered a 16-1 loss to Jackson-Milton in five innings on Thursday.

Lexi Roush had a double and RBI for the Blue Devils.

Kamryn Peruchetti took the loss, giving up 11 hits and 16 runs in four innings.

Lisbon (0-3) will play a doubleheader at Carrollton on Saturday.

Newton Falls at Crestview

COLUMBIANA — Crestview swept a doubleheader against Newton Falls on Thursday.

The Rebels won the first game, 18-5, in four innings. Brenna Figley led the Rebels with a home run, double and three RBIs. Trinity Smith, Makayla McKee and Lainey Milhoan had doubles. Alivia Shetler had three hits and three RBIs.

Emma Snyder recorded the win in the circle with nine strikeouts and a walk.

In the second game, Smith singled in Shetler in the bottom of the fourth for the 3-2 win. McKee had two hits including a double and an RBI.

McKee also got the win with six strikeouts and a walk in four innings.

Crestview (3-1) hosts Beaver Local today.

CALCUTTA — Brylee Curtis had a home run, two singles and four RBIs as Beaver Local knocked off Minerva 10-7 on Thursday.

Addie Thurik added a home run, single and three RBIs. Brenna Jones also had a home run. Mya Anderson got the win with two strikeouts and two walks in two innings.

Beaver Local is 2-1 and is at Crestview today.

West Branch 9, Canfield 3

BELOIT — Division II 2024 state champion Canfield jumped on West Branch for a 9-3 victory on Thursday.

Jenna Triveria had four hits to lead the Cardinals. Sami Economous had a home run.

For West Branch (0-1), Mati Hawk had two hits, while Sara Schmidt had a double.

Klary McKay took the loss as she gave up six runs on eight hits in four innings while striking out two and walking none.

West Branch is at Girard on Saturday.

Toronto 13, Wellsville 3

TORONTO — Toronto downed Wellsville 13-3 in six innings on Thursday in softball action.

Makayla Landess went 2-for-3 for the Tigers. She took the loss with six strikeouts and seven walks in a complete game.

Wellsville (0-1) hosts Steubenville Central at 5 p.m. today.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Steubenville’s softball team secured a 9-3 win over Oak Glen on Thursday.

Oak Glen fell to 3-3 and will be at Harrison Central today.

Mattie Carney had two hits for the Bears. Danica Holden took the loss with two runs given up over 2 2/3 innings. She struck out two and walked one.
