Clippers lose top spot
COLUMBIANA — Deion Miller had 22 points and Valley Christian’s defense blanked Columbiana in the second quarter on its way to a 58-37 victory in a battle for first place in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference on Saturday.
Columbiana was tagged with its first loss of the season to fall to 10-1 and 5-1 in the league. The Clippers had won 16 straight league games going back to a 50-48 loss to Lisbon on Dec. 8, 2023.
Valley Christian is 8-2 overall and 6-0 in the EOAC. The Eagles have won seven straight.
Seth Struharik had 17 points for the Clippers. Reese Roush had six rebounds.
Columbiana will host United on Tuesday.
Valley won the jayvee game, 44-27. Trey Snyder had 11 points for the Clippers.

LOUISVILLE — Camden Lane had 26 points, but it wasn’t enough as West Branch’s boys basketball team suffered a 79-56 loss to Louisville on Saturday.
Jeremiah Thomas added 17 points for the Warriors, 4-8.
Louisville is 8-4.
Louisville won the jayvee game, 54-38. Chase Gee had eight points for the Warriors, while Grady Hirst added seven points.
West Branch heads to Beaver Local on Tuesday.

LISBON — Lisbon’s basketball team made it back to .500 on the season with a 67-12 victory over Youngstown Urban Scholars on Saturday.
Leading Lisbon’s scoring attack were A.J. Ramgeet with 16 points, Blaine Barnes with 14 points and Luke Kraft with 13 points. Alex Brown had five rebounds, while Ashton Hinchliffe had five assists.
Tim Brandon led the defense with six steals.
Lisbon (6-6) hosts Southern on Tuesday.

LISBON — Toronto stopped Lisbon 48-32 on Saturday in girls basketball action.
For Lisbon, Lylah Brown had 11 points, while Bridgett Newbold had seven points.
Lisbon is 3-11 and has lost seven straight. The Devils are at United today.
West Branch 51, Cardinal Mooney 24
YOUNGSTOWN — West Branch jumped out to a 16-point lead at half and cruised to a 51-24 win over Youngstown Cardinal Mooney on Saturday.
West Branch is 11-1 and hit seven three-pointers.
Ellie Tucker had a season-high 12 points. Tallie Muniz added 13 points. Carter Shepherd, Hallie Cie Burton and Audrey Eaton had six points each.
West Branch’s jayvees moved to 12-1 with a 37-19 win.
Addison Reichenbach and Cailyn Fritz led the way with 12 points each.
West Branch is at Boardman today.

HARTVILLE — Rachel Reynolds scored 20 points to lead Heartland’s girls basketball team to a 52-21 win over Lake Center Christian on Saturday.
Emma Matthews added 13 points, while Sarah Reynolds chipped in 12 points.
Heartland is 8-6 and will host Mathews on Wednesday.
