Beavers look strong out of the gate

CALCUTTA — The Beaver Local boys golf team triumphed over Springfield 154-185 on Wednesday at Beaver Meadows Golf Club.

Braxton Hickman, Britton Hickman, and Owen Hill each shot 38 for Beaver Local, with Andre Wiegand contributing a 40.

Springfield was led by Jackson Ensley’s 36.

The Beavers (3-1) will in the first round of the Buckeye 8 tournament on Monday at Cadiz Country Club.

Southern tri

GUILFORD LAKE — The United boys golf team edged Southern and East Palestine during a tri-match Wednesday at Twin Springs.

United sophomore Davin Ingold shot a 34 to highlight the victory as the Eagles had a 183, followed by Southern at 184 and East Palestine 200.

Also for the Eagles, Adam Looman had a 44, Jacob Dileo 49 and Lukas Hamilton and Isaiah Conley 56s.

For Southern (1-2), Wyatt Bach had a 43, Logan Howell and Trevor Groff 46s and Austin Harshbarger 49.

For East Paelstine, Brad Bartels had a 44, Xander Pink 46 and Kayla Bland and Alivia Manges 55s.

Columbiana 183, Boardman 202

COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana girls golf team improved to 5-0 by downing Boardman, 183-202, Wednesday at Valley.

Leaders for the Clippers were Maddie Jackson with a 42, Hailey Muntean 44, Victoria Buckingham 47 and Sophia Perry 50.

Gianna Ross topped Boardman with a 42.

Heartland Christian had two golfers with Khloe Shodd getting a 56 and Lila Henderschott 64

Columbiana will compete in the Mahoning Valley Girls Golf Classic today at Yankee Run.

Champion 177, Crestview 185

CALCUTTA — Champion knocked off Crestview 177-185 on Tuesday at Beaver Creek Meadows.

Dylan Howell led Champion with a 39.

For Crestview, Braydon Gilbert shot a 41, Peyton Conkle 42, Caleb Booth 50 and Elaina Louk 52.

Crestview (0-2) will face Liberty at 1:30 p.m. today at Beaver Creek Meadows.

Salem 173, Alliance 188

ALLIANCE — Salem defeated Alliance 173-188 on Tuesday at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club.

Traevon Washington led Salem with a 41, followed by Keegan Sommers and Eli James with 43s, and Caden Arcuri with a 46.

For Alliance, Cade Blatt led with a 43.

Salem improves to 1-1 in the league and 2-1 overall. The Quakers will face Lisbon at 1:30 p.m. today at Salem Hills.
