Less is more for Clippers

COLUMBIANA -- Ian Less was more for the Columbiana Clippers in its 54-51 victory over Valley Christian on Friday.

Less tallied 26 points with eight three-pointers in the narrow victory in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Columbiana is 4-1 overall and 4-1 in the league. The Clippers won't play again in the league until early January.

Alex Eusebio had 10 reounds and four assists for the Clippers. Maddox Brown added 10 points.

Valley fell to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the league. The Eagles will be at Leetonia on Tuesday.

Columbiana will be at Springfield next Friday.

WELLSVILLE -- Wellsville had to work double overtime to take down United 61-57 on Friday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.

The Tigers are 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the league. United is 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the EOAC.

Tyrell Watkins sparked the winners with 23 points and 13 boards. Elijah Douglas had 20 points and five steals.

Trent Ellyson and Louden Stryffeler had 12 points each for the Eagles, while Jason Pratt added 11 points.

Wellsville won the two-quarter jayvee game, 22-19. Eric Dowling had seven points for Wellsville who hosts East Palestine on Tuesday.

Kadin Shonauer had six points for the Eagles who go to Minerva on Tuesday.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Jameson English scored four of his 18 points in overtime as Crestview downed Liberty 66-64 on Friday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division action.

English added 18 points seven assists and eight steals.

Tyler Savage had seven rebounds, while Jonathan Best had 20 points and six steals.

Crestview is 2-3 and 2-0 in the league.

The Rebels won the jayvee game, 51-42.

Crestview hosts Campbell on Tuesday.

MINERVA -- Minerva's 6-foot-6 senior Garrett Gonzalez scored 25 points and junior Jayden Yerger added 20 in leading the Lions past Salem, 56-43, Friday.

The Lions improve to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference, while the Quakers drop to 1-3 and 0-2 EBC.

Yerger had five three-pointers in the first half as the Lions took a 34-24 lead.

Minerva held Salem to 15 points in the first and third quarters combined.

Camden Sampson topped the Quakers with 17 points.

Minerva also won the junior varsity game, 50-42. Ty Manion topped Salem with 19 points and Karsen Dangel added 10.

Both teams play Tuesday with Salem hosting Girard and Minerva entertaining United.

BELOIT -- Nine West Branch players scored in the Warriors' 55-35 win over Marlington on Friday.

Camden Lane led the way with a game-high 15 points and four rebounds. Cooper Anderson added nine points and five rebounds. Gavin Gregory collected seven rebounds and three blocks.

West Branch improves to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. Marlington is 2-2 and 0-2 in the EBC.

Freshmen Parker Woods and Cameron Evanich scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the Dukes.

Marlington won the junior varsity game, 42-41.

Marlington will travel to Canfield on Tuesday, while West Branch will host Liberty on Thursday
