Hall sixth at Big 12
TULSA, Okla. -- West Virginia University junior and Oak Glen graduate Peyton Hall is headed to the NCAA Div. I Wrestling Tournament for the third time after he placed sixth at the Big 12 Tournament on Saturday at the BOK Center.
Hall (23-4) finished in sixth place in a stacked 165-pound weight class.
Hall earned his spot with a pin of Oklahoma's Gerrit Nihenhuis in 4:38 in the quarterfinal. Hall lost to No. 1 seed David Carr of Iowa State by a 3-1 decision in the semifinal.
The loss in the semifinal was the end of his mat action for the tournament as Hall exited with two medical forfeits to finish sixth. Hall's reason for the forfeits was not disclosed.
The NCAA Div. I Wrestling Championships are slated for March 16-18 at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
