Hall goes 1-2 at NCAA wrestling

TULSA, Okla. -- Oak Glen High School graduate and West Virginia University junior Peyton Hall got into the second day of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Friday.

Hall lost in the 165-pound consolation second round to finish his season with a 24-6 record. He is a three-time NCAA qualifier.

Pittsburgh redshirt senior and 20th-seeded Holden Heller scored a 9-7 sudden victory over the 14th-seeded Hall at the BOK Center on Friday afternoon.

Heller -- a three-year starter at Hofstra before transferring to Pittsburgh -- then lost to 12th-seeded Izzak Olejnik of Northern Illinois in the next round by injury default at the 5:40 mark.

On Thursday night, Hall had to fend off 30th-seeded Evan Barczak of Drexel for a 4-3 win in the consolation first round. Hall went up 3-0 before Barczak tied it in the third period. An escape with 48 seconds left gave Hall the win.

Hall went 1-2 at the NCAA Championships.

Tight end reunites with QB Watson

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Browns have signed free agent tight end Jordan Akins, who will reunite in Cleveland with quarterback Deshaun Watson after the two were teammates for three seasons in Houston.

Akins visited the Browns on Friday and apparently liked what he saw and heard as the team was able to work out a deal. Terms were not immediately available.

The Browns had been looking for depth at tight end to back up David Njoku. They also have Harrison Bryant on their roster.

Akins is the first offensive free agent signed by the Browns, who have been focused on revamping their defense this offseason.
