EAST PALESTINE --The Howland boys and girls each won four running events on the way to victory in the 45th East Palestine Relays at Reid Stadium on Friday.
The Howland boys scored 84 points to get past Carrollton, which had 63.
The Howland girls totaled 100 points. Rootstown was second with 91 and United was third with 60.
It was the first time Howland won team titles at the event.
Beaver Local swept the 800-meter sprint medleys. James Monte, Caleb White, Ethan Agnew and Dylan Ferguson won the boys race (1:40.12) and Jalynn Moore, Jaylnn Reckner, Kodi Kinsey and Lucia Larious Casas won the girls race (2:01.92).
Salem's Cam Jaquette, Austin Sinkovich, Dillon Monroy and Sam Walter won the boys 400-meter relay (44.84 seconds), while United's Zach Nastari, Andrew Frase, Brayden Ganslein and Kaleb Nastari won the boys 3200-meter relay (8:55.21)
Top finishers in the field events were Salem junior Ryan Kamperman in the boys discus (151-feet-9); Beaver Local senior Kodi Kinsey in the girls long jum (16-7 3/4); and Beaver Local senior Brooke Talbot in the girls high jump (4-10).
