U.S. Soccer equipment
CHICAGO (AP) -- Nike has agreed to extend its contract as the U.S. Soccer Federation's equipment supplier, a relationship that began when it replaced Adidas on Jan. 1, 1995.
The USSF announced the agreement Wednesday but did not provide its exact length. The deal starts on Jan. 1, 2023, and runs through a potential bid to host the 2027 or 2031 Women's World Cup, though the federation did not say whether the agreement goes through 2031 or only through bidding several years earlier.
Adidas was the USSF equipment supplier from 1973-94.
Chippewas rally by Kent State
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Freshman Lew Nichols III ran for 215 yards and four touchdowns and Daniel Richardson threw four TD passes as Central Michigan spotted Kent State 14 points before rolling to a 54-30 victory on Wednesday night.
Nichols has now rushed for 1,297 in his first 10 games for the Chippewas (6-4, 4-2 Mid-American). He has topped the 100-yard mark seven times and has 11 rushing TDs and two TD receptions. Nichols had 43 carries against Kent State and has yet to fumble in 235 rushes this season.
The Golden Flashes (5-5, 4-2) led 14-0 after one quarter on Dustin Crum's 37-yard scoring strike to Kris Leach and Marquez Cooper's 2-yard TD run. Central Michigan answered with touchdown drives on four straight possessions and never trailed again. Nichols opened the scoring with a 1-yard TD run early in the second quarter. Richardson followed with two scoring strikes to Dallas Dixon sandwiched around a TD toss to Joel Wilson for a 26-14 lead.
Nichols added a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter and scoring runs of 12 and 1 yard in the fourth. Richardson's final TD pass was a 21-yarder to Wilson in the third quarter.
Richardson completed 21 of 27 passes for 268 yards for the Chippewas.
Crum completed 28 of 38 passes for 322 yards and two TDs for the Golden Flashes.
Rockets rout Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) -- Bryant Koback ran for two first-quarter touchdowns and Dequan Finn threw three TD passes and ran for two scores as Toledo rolled to a 49-17 victory over Bowling Green in Mid-American Conference play on Wednesday night.
Koback had scoring runs of 50 and 10 yards to stake the Rockets (5-5, 3-3) to a 14-0 lead. After Bowling Green (3-7, 1-5) pulled to within 14-10 on Terion Stewart's 8-yard TD run and a 47-yard field goal by Nate Needham with 10:56 left in the second quarter, Finn took over.
Finn scored on a 13-yard run, connected with Danzel McKinley-Lewis for a 59-yard score and then hit Matt Landers for a 6-yard score. The three-TD burst came in the final 3:34 of the half and left the Rockets with a 35-10 lead at intermission.
Finn added a 4-yard TD pass to Jamal Turner in the third quarter and capped his night with a 9-yard scoring run in the fourth. Finn completed 18 of 24 passes for 270 yards and added 30 yards rushing. Koback ran for 99 yards in the first half and finished with 106 on 17 carries.
Matt McDonald was 5-of-12 passing for 65 yards and a TD for the Falcons, who had only 196 total yards.
