Beaver Local takes step forward

CALCUTTA -- Beaver Local is on the doorstep of a Buckeye 8 Athletic League North Division title after besting Harrison Central 48-14 on Friday.

Beaver Local has won five straight to improve to 5-2 and 3-0 in the Buckeye 8 North Division. The Beavers can clinch their first Buckeye 8 football title in school history with a win next Friday at Indian Creek.

Harrison Central fell to 2-5.

The Huskies started the game with a 57-yard touchdown drive but Beaver Local countered with a long touchdown drive of its own as it scored 29-unanswered points to go up 29-7.

Harrison was able to get back within 29-14 on a Hayden Cassidy to Tre Rex touchdown pass.

Beaver Local was able to sneak in a touchdown before half to make it 35-14 at the break.

Harrison fell apart in the third quarter as Beaver's Austin Cline hit Logan Blissenbach on a 37-yard strike to make it 42-14.

A short time later Beaver Local pounced on a fumble in the end zone for its final touchdown of the game then the running clock took over for the remainer.

Cline had three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground.

Blissenbach had three touchdowns on the day.
