TOKYO -- Sweden's Erika Kinsey turned in a season's best performance on Thursday morning during the women's high jump preliminary at the Tokyo Games.

Unfortunately it was not enough to advance to the final.

Kinsey, wife of 2005 Beaver Local High School graduate Daniel Kinsey, cleared 6 foot, 4 inches but missed on three chances to hit the final qualifying standard of 6-4 3/4.

Erika, 33, cleared her first three marks of 5-11 1/2, 6-1 1/4 and 6-2 3/4 with ease. She needed three tries to clear 6-4.

She was one of three jumpers in her qualifying group to hit season best jumps.

In all, 14 competitors reached the final across the two qualifying groups.

Erika ended up finishing 15th out of 31 competitors.

At Rio in 2016, Erika finished tied for 29th with a best jump of 6-1.

The high jump final is Saturday evening.

Dan Kinsey is in Tokyo as a coach for the Swedish national track team.
