Salem stuns Poland

POLAND -- The Salem girls basketball team had a lot of reasons to celebrate Wednesday night.
Senior Kyla Jamison scored 20 points, including her 1,000th career point, as the Quakers beat highly-regarded Poland, 46-41. It was Poland's third regular-season loss in three years.
Poland had a 7-0 run in the second quarter to go up 18-10 and took a 25-18 lead into the half.
The game turned after halftime as Salem opened the second half on a 15-2 run to take a 33-27 lead.
Jamison scored her 1,000th point on a basket that gave Salem a 41-39 lead with 1:20 left in the contest.
With Salem up 44-41 with eight seconds left, Poland missed two free throws and Jamison secured the rebound. Then, Jamison knocked down both of her free throws to raise her career total to 1,004 points and seal the Quakers' victory.
It doesn't get any easier for the Quakers (2-0) as they host South Range today.

West Branch 55, Alliance 22
ALLIANCE -- The West Branch Warriors girls basketball team moved to 2-1 on the season after swiftly handling Alliance 55-22 on Wednesday night.
The Warriors were led by Sydney Mercer with 13 points and Jillian Pidgeon with 11 points. Pidgeon also knocked down three of West Branch's four three-pointers. Livvie Showalter finished with nine rebounds.
For Alliance (0-2), Mackenzie Fletcher led the way with six points. Eight players for Alliance scored.
West Branch outrebounded Alliance 36-22 in the contest.

Sebring 72, Urban Scholars 54
SEBRING -- Sebring's boys basketball team limited the Academy of Urban Scholars to two points in the first quarter en route to a 72-54 win on Wednesday.
For Sebring (1-0), Connor Shepherd had 17 points, while Andrew Lamp and Frankie Lozoya had 14 points each. Matt Byrd had 13 points and Elijah Frederick had 10 points for the winners.
George Peoples had 21 points for the Scholars.
Sebring hosts Jackson-Milton on Friday. There was no jayvee game.
