Lehman Performance Horses held its grand opening Saturday.

The equine training and boarding facility is a life-long dream for the owner, Brittany Lehman.

The facility is located just south of Augusta and southwest of Kensington at 6185 Aurora Road NE, across from Bane Road.

A magnitude of services are available including training, boarding, breeding, mare care, sales, group and private lessons, clinics, parties and community events, she said.

The facility’s amenities include a total of 38 spacious and lighted 10 by 15- and 10 by 12-foot stalls, foaling stalls, indoor and outdoor arenas, daily turnouts, an indoor wash bay, round pen, spacious tack room, restroom and a lounge.

“There are plenty of pastures, each fenced with 1.5-inch electric white polytape,” Lehman said, adding, “there is a separate barn, the broodmare barn. It has four foaling stalls and includes an office and lounge area with restroom facilities.”

The 2009 Minerva High School graduate expects to see prosperous times again for the once-renowned facility. Lehman will bring an extensive and successful history in the horse industry to the daily operations at Lehman Performance Horses.

Being around horses all her life, Lehman, who holds a degree in criminal justice, has a great desire to share her abilities with others.

“I have ridden horses since I was 2 and shown since I was 5,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to become a horse trainer.

“When I was younger I always rode horses and always had training horses at mom’s. We always had horses growing up in Minerva.

“I am a member of AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) and NSBA (National Snaffle Bit Association),” she said and at Lehman Performance Horses she will train horses in riding techniques in disciplines like showmanship, halter, horsemanship, western pleasure, western riding, ranch horse, trail, equitation and hunter under saddle .

Lehman also trains horsemanship, showmanship and halter.

Lehman also shows quarter horse on the circuit in all-around events and futurities and has three broodmares she breeds.
