Providing thoughts on Issue One

To the editor: There were some questions asked about Issue One that is on the November ballot. I wish to try and answer those questions. Question one was when does a clump of human cells legally become a person? If we found cells on Mars that were similar to cells at conception, we would say, “we found life on Mars.” In answer to question number two, Article 1, Section 1 of the Ohio Constitution Bill of Rights states: “All men are, by nature, free and independent, and have certain inalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring ...

Fan of EL Mayor endorsing McKinnon

To the editor: Progress often comes slowly but I can attest that I have witnessed it and experienced it in East Liverpool. As a former resident and graduate (‘76), I became acquainted with Mayor Bricker, Pat Scafide, and Bill Cowan while looking for a potential project to execute within the city. These three gentlemen are the trifecta of dedication, passion, and classic unselfishness that I have rarely found in any other community that I have dealt with in my travels. Mayor Bricker, in particular, has provided the leadership, intellect, and energy necessary to change the course ...

Praises Lisbon Mayor Wilson

To the editor: Over the past four years, Mayor Peter Wilson has done many positive things for Lisbon. His actions speaker louder than words. Mayor Wilson is present and available in his office, holding other offices to the same standard. He is intelligent and thoughtful while searching and finding government grants to fund improvements. His planning goes years into the future. If physical exertion is needed, Mayor Wilson takes initiative and does things himself. Among other activities, he weed whacks under the guardrail at the city limits and also does plants and spreads mulch on the ...

Vote “No!” on Issue One

To the editor: The vote on Nov. 7 is one we must be informed about. Please read what this vote proposes. If enacted Issue One will make abortion legal up to the moment of birth. Please vote “no” — this is about life or death for children. The people and babies in our great state deserve better than this foul legislation. For the children’s sake and our sake as people vote “No!” WILLIAM OLIVER, East Liverpool

Against Issue One

To the editor: I recently received a flyer in the mail urging us to vote “yes” on Issue One. She stated that “as a pediatrician, it’s my job to protect children.” But, yet, she wants us to enable her to kill unborn babies which is exactly what abortion is! Where does she think children come from? Unborn babies will eventually become “children!” I urge everybody to study the language of Issue One and vote “NO!” If Issue One passes, may God have mercy on us! MARTY VEBELUN, Lisbon
