Dear Governor:
I am writing to respectfully request your personal oversight and intervention in the proposed closure of the Salem, Ohio Office of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Salem is the largest city in Columbiana County, serving a population of over 20,000 if you include the contiguous townships. The Salem office transacted a total of over 70,000 process transactions, including motor vehicle and related transactions.
The proposal to just shut this office down and move everything to Lisbon, a community of under 3,000 . . . and make that one office the only BMV office for the entire county of over 100,000 . . . would not be beneficial to my constituents.
I have heard from the mayor of Salem, members of the Salem City Council, community leaders in the city's service clubs and its Chamber of Commerce, all urging that something be done to keep the Salem BMV office open.
I urge you to take immediate action to reverse the closure of the Salem office. If you have any questions, I am available at any time of the day or night to speak with you about this very important public safety office.
