Cybersecurity Awareness Month holds significant importance in today's digital age and serves as a reminder of the critical role that technology plays in safeguarding our world.
Just one cyber attack can have long lasting ramifications on our economy, security, and data.
A recent cyber attack in Columbus highlighted the consequences of cybersecurity weaknesses with the information of 7,600 individuals exposed in a ransomware attack on Ohio History Connection.
Cyber attacks can be even more widespread and detrimental. Potential targets span from emergency response communications to critical infrastructure in the U.S.
Innovators in the cybersecurity space are developing the tools and protections to defend against these attacks. These tools developed and provided by the tech industry are helping secure networks and protect our personal data from falling into the hands of criminals and foreign governments.
Our leaders must recognize their role and importance to cybersecurity strategies from the local to the national level.
Lawmakers must ensure that American technology companies can continue to develop critical tools. We must avoid creating policies that would undermine their ability to innovate, therefore threatening our safety and security.
