As election day approaches, it is important for Ohioans to be informed about their choices for US Senator and ensure that the candidate they support will represent their values.
FRC Action, the legislative affiliate of Family Research Council, "seek[s] to . . . mobilize Values Voters on behalf of faith, family, and freedom, . . . and support candidates who share our values for public office." FRC Action keeps a scorecard (https://www.frcaction.org/scorecard) of votes in the US House and Senate on significant federal legislation that impact the free expression of faith, the foundation of families, and individual freedom.
Faith, family, and freedom are traditional and mainstream values in the United States and Ohio.
The Democrat Party candidate in Ohio for US Senate--Tim Ryan--is in his 20th year as a US Representative. Over the 19 years, through 2021, that Tim Ryan has been in Washington he has a total voting record with FRC Action of 11% (23 out of 202). More significantly, in the most recent 10 years Tim Ryan has a voting record with FRC Action's faith, family, and freedom values of only 2.6% (3 out of 114).
Here are just a few examples of Tim Ryan's votes that go against mainstream American values:
--He voted AGAINST the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act which would require that infants born alive after botched abortion attempts are given the same degree of life-saving care that an infant born at the same gestational age would receive.
--He voted FOR the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan which contributed to driving inflation to its current 40-year high and wasted taxpayer money, increasing the cost of living for all Americans.
--He voted AGAINST the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which gave (and still gives) every working American more take-home pay.
Tim Ryan's overall record is dismal, but it seems the longer he has been in Washington the more he has strayed away from the values of the Ohioans he represents. Tim Ryan's record speaks for itself--he is not faith, family, and freedom friendly--and he does not deserve to represent the entire state of Ohio.
