To the editor:
Although I have only been on the Columbiana Park Board for several months, I have long been aware of the benefits of the Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail, Scenic Vista Park and Hellbender Park in Madison Township. In fact, I have been riding the Greenway Trail since 2000 as well as other dedicated bike trails in the eastern United States. I can say without fear of being contradicted that our Greenway is the finest and most scenic of any of the trails I have experienced.
Like anything of quality, our trail and the other parks need ongoing care and improvement in order to maintain their luster. The Park District is basically operated on a shoestring basis which has worked up to a point but the future requires a more dependable source of funding.
The Park District has placed a .35 mill levy on the November ballot which is desperately needed if the county's parks are to continue their present excellence.
Please vote "Yes" for the county park district levy on November 8.
