Cast your vote for the sake of democracy

1 min read

To the editor:

I would like to encourage all eligible voters to make the effort on November 8th, to cast your ballot and let your voice be heard. If your vote is not counted, your community is not represented, and you may be missing out on opportunities that this democratic nation makes possible for all of us. Our democracy provides the basis of all of our rights, that we sometimes take for granted.

The great experiment in government that freed us from British rule is now 246 years later. Being a good citizen is not easy, it takes sacrifices and hard work. Washington, Jefferson, and James Madison, led the fight, and showed us the way to move our country forward. A democracy that so many gave their lives for, let's preserve it for the people of the future , our kids, and grandkids.

Remember, democracy is not guaranteed. Make the commitment to be a good citizen, fight the good fight, cast your ballot, and keep our beloved democracy strong.

Bob Shilling,

Salem
