To the Editor:
Just a brief letter to point out the continued failings of our politicians and the media.
I walked into the TV room on Feb. 17 and caught the tail end of a political spokesperson stating that Russia, if sanctioned, will institute a cyber attack on the USA. Why would you even acknowledge what they may do? Do they like frightening the people of this country? I say "Yes, they love headlines."
Then, that same intellectual giant proceeded to say that based upon "government intelligence," the most vulnerable area to attack would be (not something I will pass on). The media could not wait to report that to their audience. Are they for or against the USA? Make you wonder.
Govern by fear seems to be the political rallying cry, and the media loves that fact. It sells. The media's integrity matches those of our politicians. It is getting hard to separate one from the other.
Sensationalism and yellow journalism are and will continue to be problems this country has. Nothing is off limits to these headlines grabbers. Don't they care? Are they our biggest enemy? Makes you wonder. Some things should never be reported.
Do you know what one of the synonyms of media is? Intelligence. Now that is funny. I say what is an oxymoron? You fill that one in.
