Jonah Goldberg's column published in your March 22 issue is downright frustrating to read. Goldberg has nearly always hit the nail on its head in his reporting. But this column made me a bit upset at his recently divergent and prejudicial style.
Do we really believe that not objecting to something sends as clear a signal as objecting does? That's news to me and I would say to any thoughtful American. He goes on to say, "It's fun to listen to Republicans vent off the record." Yes, "Draining the Swamp" is certain to upset the status quo which also includes the Republicans. And, I'm sure, there is a lot of venting off the record. However, that's not news. Venting in silence, but not to one another of the same ilk, is relatively standard procedure.
A poll of Americans today just might support Trump's position that Mueller's probe is a "Witch Hunt." Quite frankly, Mueller's been spending our money far longer on a probe about a question of collusion with the Russians should take. Of course, Mueller is now expanding his unlimited funded probe, to investigate just about anything "Trump" that he wants and the Congress as well as Goldberg are relatively silent.
Then, Goldberg goes on to say he's a free-trader. Free-trade is one thing, and our (USA) trade policies are another. Trump is right on the money about steel and aluminum. I'm sure Goldberg hasn't witnessed downtown Weirton, Youngstown, Pittsburgh, etc. If that's his definition of free-trade, he should buy a new dictionary.
To say I'm disappointed in Goldberg is to state the obvious. And, I'm not silenced. I rather like speaking up.
