The anniversary

Editor:

I enjoy the written word -- and I think that the editors and writers for this newspaper never get the recognition that they deserve.

I read the article written by Mr. Tom Giambroni covering the ceremony for Sept. 11 held in Wellsville on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017. He did an excellent job and I wish that I could have shared the experience but, silly me, I thought the ceremony would have been held on the actual day of the tragedy. However, after reading other accounts of the event that were also held on that day, I can understand that it was convenient for working people.

Ms. Deanne Johnson also did an excellent article on the ceremony held at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds.

My case in point, however, is there would have been a lot more people attending these events if the people involved in the preparations would put out notifications in the newspapers so that the public is aware of them.

I know other people would have attended had they known they were held on Sunday -- the newspapers are more than willing to publish the notices -- but they, like the rest of us have to be made aware of them, not read about them after the fact.

Again, I thank the village of Wellsville for once again remembering Cathy and sincerely hope that they will continue doing so. Thank you and God bless America -- may He hold us in the palm of His hand in the chaos sweeping this country.
