And Charlie, too
A good man, Charlie Carlisle, went to his eternal reward recently. I was so surprised there was no writeup (even a paragraph) about the former Lisbon police chief. After devoting more than 30 years to our great village, you would have thought this man deserved at least a paragraph. You read all sorts of things in letters to the editor, but nothing about when a good person, who deserves a good writeup, is gone. Why is this?
When I told my son about him he said, “Mom, he was a good person. Maybe, if it wasn’t for him, I would not be the person I am. He cared.” As a teen in school, he got in trouble with others his age. Charlie stood by him, even going to court with us. Yes, he spent two days in the Tobin Center, but this turned his life around. It could have been much more time, but he believed in my son. I am sure there are others who had his help.
Let’s pay tribute where tribute is due. Charlie has earned his wings. Our heart goes out to his family. Soar high with those wings, my friend.
