Employers of all kinds appear to be doing better at keeping their workers healthy and safe on the job, as private employers of Ohio will now see their sixth rate reduction in a row on premiums paid to the Ohio Board of Workers' Compensation. This follows a reduction for public employers that went into effect Jan. 1
In fact, according to the BWC, there will be a total of approximately $67 million less paid next fiscal year because of the change.
"This reduction is a result of employers' dedication to workplace safety and Ohio's strong economic position," said Gov. Mike DeWine.
It's easy to see why having the right resources and the right attitude toward employee health and safety turns into a winning cycle for employers.
"This reduction is evidence of Ohio's commitment to workplace safety," said BWC Administrator/CEO John Logue. "Lower premium rates directly relate to cost savings for employers, which allows them to reinvest their money towards the growth of their business and investment in their employees."
That's good news, given that, according to the BWC, the 257,000 private and public employers in Ohio are paying their lowest rates in more than 60 years.
It is good to know at least on this matter, state government responds by letting people keep more of their money. Employers must not let up on their efforts, but are to be commended on a job well done.
