The free fall Idabelle Firestone Fall Concert Series continues to entertain at Firestone Park in Columbiana. Guests and visitors have already attended and enjoyed three opening programs.
Past Concerts This Season
Mark Frost and his group, the Oak Street Strings band, that favored us with old American songs, and the following group, Tapestries of Ohio, presented Renaissance music providing a nice contrast in style and substance to kick off the season on Aug. 30.
Our second performers, the Tamburitzans, delighted the audience with their Eastern European songs and dances complete with dazzling costumes and accompanying information about origins on Sept. 6. They are an organization out of Pittsburgh with an 80-year history of involving college students with their special repertoire.
Our third performance on Sept. 13 included the Suburban Brass Quintet, a repeat performance of a group very well received by our local audiences.
This Sunday
Coming up to date this weekend will be the Das Und Kraut Polka Band presenting polkas and Octoberfest music this Sunday, Sept. 20 at the Columbiana High School. Parking and admission free. No tickets required. Doors open at 2 pm.
Next Sunday
Our grand finale, and final group of performers on Sept. 27 will feature the 16-piece Dave Banks Big Band and a live Rat Pack show with three well-known tribute artists representing Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. -- a headliner in Las Vegas who will be flying in for this performance. Don't miss this one! They will be singing those familiar songs from back in that era and engaging in amusing antics, just like the originals. Because of the expected crowd, this finale will be held at the Columbiana High School. Parking and admission free. No tickets required. Doors will open at 2 p.m.
All in all, a wide variety of music, certain to please a variety of tastes being offered to Columbiana residents, as well as guests and visitors to the free Idabelle Firestone Fall Concert Series. If you missed any of these tremendous performances, you still have two opportunities. Come and enjoy this Sunday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m. for the Das Und Kraut Polka Band performance and next Sunday, Sept. 27, for the Dave Banks 16-piece orchestra and tribute singers, each at 3 p.m. at Columbiana High School and help us celebrate and close out another successful season of concerts, sponsored by the Firestone Park Cultural and Custodial Committee, a 501(c) 3 organization.
