Judith ‘Judy’ Shakley-Floding

1940-2026

LISBON -- Judith "Judy" Shakley-Floding, 86, passed away quietly at her home on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026 with her family at her side.

Judy was born on Feb. 5, 1940 in Masury, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth (Lynch) Shakley.

Following high school, she attended college at Robert Morris University where she earned an associate's degree. This led her to a 17-year career as a purchasing agent with Sharon Steel.

Judy was a member of the Brookfield United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. Judy loved flowers and had also worked as a florist at the Brookfield Giant Eagle. She was very competitive and quite a card player, she played to win. Judy was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her husband, Donald Ray Floding, whom she married on Sept. 23, 2017, preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2025.

She is survived by her stepson, Joel Floding of the home; her stepdaughter, Larae (Stephen) Vandeberg of Austin, Texas; her half-sister, Cesile Vanchi; friends who became family, Faye and Paul Morris, who also lived on the farm; nephews, Gordon and Kenny McWhirter and Kevin Call; niece, Venora (Joe) VanKirk; seven step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; her special caregivers, Christina Lee, Crista Viets, and Shannon Owen; and her nurse, Brian Wright.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday, Sept. 4, 2026 at the Brookfield United Methodist Church, 6951 Grove St., Brookfield, OH 44403 with Pastor Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Brookfield Township Cemetery.

The family will receive family and friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
