COLUMBIANA -- Dorothy Louise Symons, 96, of Columbiana, died on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at her home in Columbiana.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1929, in Aliquippa, Pa., daughter of the late Wm. Clare and Laverne Beynon Kocher.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana where she was a part of the Presbyterian Women's Group. She was also a member of the area Weavers Guilds and Book Clubs. Together with her husband, Harvey, the couple managed and maintained Harmony Village in Columbiana for 10 years. She also enjoyed camping and vacationing with her family. Dorothy loved to sew, she made her own and her children's wedding dresses. Over the years she quilted blankets for numerous people. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her husband, Harvey W. Symons, whom she married on Aug. 17, 1951, preceded her in death Jan. 15, 2023.
Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Pattie (Larry) Sanders of Garden City, Kan., Judy (Ed) Wilms of Columbiana and Martie (David) Welther of Warren; a son, Bruce "Harvey" Symons of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother William Kocher, and brother Edward Kocher.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana, with Pastor Fritz Nelson officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Columbiana First Presbyterian Church, 28 E Park Ave., Columbiana, OH 44408.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
