Peter G. Martinelli, 71, of Troy, Ohio passed away on July 4, 2026 at Hospice of Miami County. He was born on May 26, 1955 in Salem, Ohio to the late Anthony D. and Frances M. (Swanson) Martinelli.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years of marriage: Ruth A. (Straka) Martinelli; daughters: Amber L. (Darren) Reckner of Cincinnati and Julie M. (Derek) Almeida of Troy; stepson: Shawn D. Ruth of Kettering; grandchildren: Jadyn Almeida and Hunter Almeida; sisters: Mary Beth (Bob) Taubert of East Liverpool, Gayle A. (Stacie) Martinelli of Powell and Susan A. (Mark) Heretik of Mogadore; nephews and niece: Jack Heretik, Matthew Bray and Kelly Bray and many close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Tony G. Martinelli and Jim A. Martinelli.
He was a graduate of Salem High School and attended Kent State University. He was a TSGT with the US Air Force, retiring after 21 years of service. After retirement from the service, he was a cabinet maker with Robertson Cabinets in West Milton and a kitchen designer with Lowes. After surviving a stroke that limited his mobility, Peter served on staff at the Miami County YMCA for many years.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Troy where he served as a Trustee and was instrumental in founding the HOGS ministry of the church. He was an avid OSU and Reds fan and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing and golfing.
Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 22, 2026 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with visitation prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m.
