Fred W. William Polen Jr., 88, of Salineville passed away on July 26, 2026 at the Continuing Health Care of Lisbon following a lengthy illness.
Fred was born Jan. 19, 1938 in Salineville, Ohio. He was the son of the late Fred W Polen Sr. and Mabel P. (Nunamaker) Polen.
Having lived his entire life in the area Fred was a 1956 graduate of Salineville High School, was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Salineville American Legion, and was a methodist by faith.
Fred was a very loyal family man. He was a very dedicated grandfather. Although he was a man of few words, the love he had for his family was never in doubt.
Fred spent his years as a heavy equipment operator working for various companies over the years. He loved being outdoors on his farm, listening to the birds, planting trees and completing projects.
He had an extensive Belt Buckles collection for which he was very proud of.
Fred is survived by his wife: Joyce (Jones) Polen whom he married on April 13, 1962; sons: Fred W Polen III (Maria) of Hammondsville, Jerry Polen (LeeAnne) of Salineville; two daughters: Teresa Brammer (Rick) of Tampa, Florida, Linda K Zediana (James) of Arlington Texas; brothers: Albert Eugene Polen of Salineville, Harry Joe Polen (Kay) of Alliance, Paul Ronald Polen of Salineville; sister: Linda Getschman of Carson City, Nevada;grandchildren: Cody, Austin, Nicole, Sammy, Tara, Evette, Christina, Patrick, Hailee; and great-grandchildren: Slade, Collins, Ella, Emma, Jackson, Addison, Maleah, Cayden, Carson, Corbin, Jacob, Oaklynn, Hazel, Alaina, Olivia, Kinzley and Zach.
In addition to his parents Fred was predeceased by a sister, Margaret McAlister.
Service will be held at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 1 p.m with Rev. John Fitch Officiating.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
