Sandra Lee Smith

1942-2026

LISBON — Sandra Lee Smith, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Aultman Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Sandy was born Oct. 17, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late Leonard and Helen (Columbus) Goetz.

Following high school, she earned an associate degree in Nursing, and worked as a registered Nurse for some time, before she married and began raising her family and caring for her home.

A devout Catholic, Sandy was a former member of St. Philip Neri Church and was a member of St. George Catholic Church.

Her hobbies included gardening, as she was a past president of a Garden Club when she lived in Western New York, and she was an accomplished watercolor artist, and had won several awards for her artwork. Sandy was also deeply involved with the PTA’s when her sons were young.

Sandy is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 61 years, Dennis Marvin Smith, whom she married Nov. 7, 1964; her sons, Scott Smith and Nathaniel “Nate” (Jessica) Smith, both of Lisbon; sister, Delores (the late Clark) Higginbothan of Wylie, Texas; brother, Leonard (Jeanette) Goetz of St. Louis, Missouri; her grandson, Julian; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Following Sandy’s wishes, no calling hours or funeral services will be observed at this time. A memorial mass will be held at a later date and she will be laid to rest at the Maplewood Cemetery in New York.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sandy’s memory to the Lisbon Lepper Library, 303 East Lincoln Way, Lisbon, Ohio 44432.
