Mary Theresa Gearin, 84, formerly of Salineville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 14, 2026.
Mary was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 8, 1942, the daughter of the late Joseph Hejduk and Ruth (Jensen) Hejduk.
Having lived most of her life in the area, Mary worked as a nurse’s aide at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Lisbon for 20 years before retiring in 2006. Mary was loved by everyone who knew her. She was an animal lover and bird enthusiast.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Marilyn (Michael) Cunningham of Rootstown, Teresa Monda of Streetsboro, and Kitten (Mary) Bennett and Bob Skinner of Calcutta; her son, Robert Quigley of Cleveland; her brother, Joseph Hejduk of Calcutta; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Sonny” Gearin, whom she married on May 5, 1978, and who passed away on Oct. 30, 2015; her daughter, Patricia Bennett; her son, James Bennett; and her infant sister, Marilyn Hejduk.
The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m.
Services will be held Monday, May 18, 2026, at noon at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Highlandtown Cemetery, with a luncheon following at the Kiwanis Club of Salineville.
