Betty Knight

EAST PALESTINE — Betty Knight, 99, of East Palestine passed away at home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

She was born on June 19, 1926, in Clarkson, Ohio, a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Hole Garvin.

Betty was a devoted homemaker and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Glenmoor. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, eating her dessert before the meal and reading her Bible. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and was always ready to greet them with gum from her purse. Her family was everything to her. She will be deeply missed.

Her husband, Jack Harold Knight, whom she married on Oct. 10, 1942, preceded her in death on July 14, 2009.

Betty is survived by her four daughters, Judy (Dennis) Collins of Southington, Bonnie Sherrill of East Palestine, Sherry (Dave) Wright of East Palestine, and Patti (Bill) Spaite of Titusville, Pa.; three sons, Jack Knight of Pancea, Fla., Danny (Jackie) Knight of East Palestine, and James Knight of Key Largo, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Cecelia Knight of Grand Ridge, Fla.; sister-in-law, Carol Garvin of East Palestine, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jean Knight; two sons, Ted Knight, and Gary Knight; four sisters, Jean Butler, Virginia Crowl, Esther Scott, and Grace Crawford; her brother, James M. Garvin Sr.; daughters-in-law, Julie Knight, and Michelle Knight; son-in-law, Russell Sherrill, and by three grandchildren.

Private family services were held.

Betty was laid to rest with her husband Jack and two children at Clarkson Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home East Palestine.
